Akhnoor: A mega Veterans’ rally was organised by the Crossed Swords Division at Tanda, Akhnoor on Wednesday as part of the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day celebrations, witnessing overwhelming participation from ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families from across the region.
The rally was conducted with the objective of addressing pension-related issues, medical concerns and long-pending grievances of veterans, while also recognising their sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the nation. More importantly, the rally also commemorated the invaluable contributions by veterans from the Akhnoor region during Operation Sindoor.

As part of the outreach programme, over 450 ex-servicemen, widows and Veer Naris from the region were felicitated.
Multiple facilitation counters were established to enable veterans to seek guidance and immediate assistance on matters related to pensions, documentation, medical benefits, resettlement schemes and other welfare entitlements.

Senior Army officials, along with representatives from concerned departments, interacted closely with all the veterans and reassured them of prompt redressal of their grievances. A medical camp was also organised during the rally, which provided basic health check-ups, free medical consultations and medicines to veterans and their dependents.

Addressing the gathering, the General Officer Commanding, Crossed Swords Division, stated that the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families were beyond any form of compensation.
He emphasised that the nation remains eternally grateful to the veterans for their selfless service and dedication towards the nation. He also reaffirmed the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to the welfare, dignity and well-being of its veterans.
He assured that such outreach initiatives would continue to be organised regularly to ensure that the concerns of veterans are addressed in a timely manner.

The rally concluded on a positive and patriotic note, further strengthening the bond of trust, respect and camaraderie between the Indian Army and its Veterans.DD
