Top Indian Army Commander Monitors Anti-Terror Operations in Basantgarh

Udhampur: The Indian Army has intensified pressure on terrorist activities in the higher reaches of Dudu-Basantgarh, and its adjoining mountainous regions, stretching from Udhampur district.
The Indian Army has conducted a series of Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) in coordination with the local police and Village Defence Groups (VDGs) in the difficult and dense forest areas of Basantgarh, Billawar in Kathua, and across the Chenab Valley.
As part of reviewing and monitoring the situation, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps paid a high-level visit to Basantgarh to assess and reinforce the region’s counter-terrorism framework.
The GOC interacted with the troops of the Delta Force, praising their exceptional professionalism, high morale, and steadfast dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the area.
This visit underlines the Indian Army’s continued focus on neutralizing threats and ensuring a robust defence posture in sensitive zones.
Emphasizing the need for an uncompromising stance against terrorism, the GOC urged all ranks to remain proactive and razor-sharp in their operational duties.
He highlighted the importance of exemplary conduct and constant vigilance to effectively counter any emerging security challenges.
The GOC reaffirmed that the White Knight Corps remains committed to safeguarding the region and upholding national security with peak efficiency.
In June 2025, the security forces had gunned down a terrorist in Basantgarh in Udhampur District during a joint operation following intelligence inputs.
In September 2025, the security forces trapped a group of three to four terrorists in Udhampur’s upper reaches, and an encounter broke out. One soldier was martyred in the encounter. However, the security forces continued their hunt against the terrorist group in the Dudu-Basantgarh and Bhaderwah and other adjoining areas amid a heightened security grid.DD
