JAMMU, OCTOBER 22: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated ‘International Conference on Endocrinology, Metabolism and Reproduction: Exploring New Frontiers’ at University of Jammu, today.
In his address, the Lt Governor appreciated the endeavour of the Department of Zoology, University of Jammu and Indian Society for Comparative Endocrinology to explore cutting-edge advancements in Endocrinology and other crucial fields.
The Lt Governor emphasised Scientists’ and Academicians’ crucial role in the well-being of society and how their pursuit of excellence will ensure a healthy society and give a boost to larger vision of nation-building. “Our research and creation of new knowledge should be dedicated for the benefit of humanity,” he said.
“Stress is real and all the scientists and researchers should work together to harness the potential of research, innovation to produce path-breaking discoveries for prevention and management of chronic lifestyle diseases,” the Lt Governor said.
Speaking on India’s emergence as a global leader in healthcare, the Lt Governor said, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has seen tremendous improvement in healthcare research and development. The way India handled Covid Pandemic and also helped the world through “Vaccine Maitri” is exemplary, he added.
Today the superior research capabilities of India in various sectors are now acknowledged and appreciated across the world. Scientists in both traditional systems and modern medicine are working together to meet the challenges of lifestyle diseases, mental and reproductive health, the Lt Governor said.
At the inaugural session, the Lt Governor shared the socio-economic reforms introduced in various sectors over the past few years in J&K UT.
In the last 5 years, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with his commitment to peace, job creation, entrepreneurship, sustainable growth and a relentless push for infrastructure development, changed J&K’s destiny.
The Lt Governor also lauded the University of Jammu for leading the change in the education sector in the UT of Jammu Kashmir.
On the occasion, the Lt Governor unveiled the bust of saviour of Jammu Kashmir, Brigadier Rajinder Singh, MVC (Posthumous). He also released the abstract book of the Conference.
Around 150 participants from across India and abroad participating in the 4-day Conference includes faculty, researchers, and students from leading universities and research institutes of India representing Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Northern states Punjab, Haryana, Jammu Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Bengal, Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and other states of India while 06 international delegates are representing Canada, Portugal, Japan, Belgium, United States and Germany.
Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor Jammu University; Prof. Bechan Lal, President Indian Society for Comparative Endocrinology, Prof. Suraj Unniappan, University of Saskatchewan, Canada; Prof. Seema Langer, HoD Zoology (Convener of the Conference); former Vice Chancellors, Scientists, Researchers, HoDs, faculty members and students were present.TDD
