International Conference on Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Reproduction: Exploring New Frontiers concludes at JU

JAMMU,TDD, The International Conference on Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Reproduction: Exploring New Frontiers, organised by the University of Jammu, concluded with a grand valedictory function, marking the successful end rich scientific discussions and collaborations. Organized by the Department of Zoology in collaboration with the Indian Society for Comparative Endocrinology (ISCE), the event attracted around 150 researchers from across India and abroad. The International Conference was inaugurated by the Hon’ble LG JKUT and Chancellor, University of Jammu on October 22, 2024.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof Umesh Rai expressed immense satisfaction with the successful organization of the 4-day International Conference on Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Reproduction. He hoped that the in-depth deliberations, expert discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions that took place during the conference would prove to be highly fruitful, driving advancements in the field and inspiring further research and collaboration among scholars and practitioners worldwide.

Prof. Bechan Lal, President of Indian Society for Comparative Endocrinology (ISCE), delivered an inspiring address highlighting the society’s contributions to the field of comparative endocrinology and encouraged young researchers to advance the legacy.

Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Jammu, presided over the function, emphasizing the critical importance of endocrinology as a field where scientific advancements are progressing rapidly. He highlighted that while it is essential to stay updated with the latest developments, we must also remember and respect the foundations laid by traditional science. Prof. Sharma noted that conferences like these play a vital role in nurturing scientific dialogue and building meaningful research collaborations that bridge contemporary advancements with traditional insights, paving the way for a more comprehensive understanding in the field.

The event saw the presence of esteemed guests, including Chief Guest Prof. C. M. Chaturvedi, Professor Emeritus from Banaras Hindu University, and Guest of Honour Prof. Vinod Kumar, INSA Senior Scientist. Prof. Kumar praised the diversity of topics covered during the conference and emphasized the importance of collaborative research in endocrinology.

Earlier, Prof. Seema Langer, Convener of the conference in her welcome address extended her gratitude to Prof. Bechan Lal, President of ISCE, and Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, for their unwavering support in ensuring the event’s success. Prof. Langer also recognized the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee.

The achievements of young researchers were also recognised during the valedictory function with prizes awarded for the best oral and poster presentations, motivating the next generation of scientists.

Prof. Pankaj Kumar, Organizing Secretary of the conference, presented a detailed summary of the three-day proceedings, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Parvinder Kumar, acknowledging the collective efforts of all participants, speakers, and the organizing team.

Earlier in the day, the conference began its final day with four technical sessions, featuring 21 presentations on topics spanning endocrinology, neurobiology, and biodiversity. The sessions included three plenary talks, six invited talks by renowned experts, and 12 oral presentations from researchers presenting their latest findings. One of the highlights was an online lecture delivered by Prof. Manfred Gahr from the Max Planck Institute for Biological Sciences in Seewiesen, Germany, offering valuable insights into cutting-edge endocrinological research.

The day continued the momentum set by the previous days, facilitating an impressive exchange of scientific ideas and further exploring new frontiers in the field of endocrinology. The conference, with its diverse range of presentations and discussions, left participants enriched and inspired, having fostered new collaborations and scientific partnerships across borders.TDD
