Akhnoor encounter: Two more terrorists killed, toll 3

Large quantity of arms, ammo recovered from slain’

Jammu, Oct 29 (TDD) : Two more terrorists were killed in the Akhnoor area of Jammu taking the number of total terrorists killed in the gunfight to three, defence sources said today.

They said that yesterday one terrorist was killed while two more were killed after the encounter resumed with the first light of the day today. “Cordon layers were tightened throughout the night and all escape routes were sealed. There was a brief exchange of fire in the night but intense gunfight started with the first light of the day. The hiding terrorists were cornered from all sides and in the gunfight, two more terrorists were killed,” defence sources told the Diplomat.

They said in total, all three terrorists have been killed now. The group had attacked the army’s medical vehicle yesterday, however, there was no damage in the firing incident. Soon after the attack, the army had condoned off entire area to prevent terrorists from escaping.

In the initial seaches, the army lost its expert dog, Phantom who received several bullets while hunting the terrorists.

Sources said that large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorists. The group sources said is believed to have infiltrated into this side just a few days ago. (TDD)
