Alleged attack on VC Kashmir University: No evidence found, matter being investigated, Police

Searched entire area of Zakura, Srinagar, nothing corroborated attack, policemen deployed with VC fired a few shots on basis of suspicion’

Srinagar, (TDD): Jammu and Kashmir Police today said it couldn’t corroborate the alleged attack on Kashmir University Vice Chancellor last evening even as the matter is being investigated.

Srinagar police in statement to the Diplomat that the report about attack on VC of Kashmir University last evening near Zakura area of Srinagar could not be corroborated, factoring in all possible circumstances.
“Police parties who visited the spot did not find corroboration of bullet marks,” the statement said, adding,
“Entire area was thoroughly searched and nothing corroborating the alleged version was found.”

He said that the people around and nearby police naaka also did not hear any firing sounds, except some rounds fired by security personnel deployed with VC, who made caution fire purportedly on some perceived suspicion.
“Matter, however, is being enquired into,” he said-(TDD)
