Kishtwar, TDD,The District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) and Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), held a meeting with political party representatives to discuss the Special Summary Revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll in District Kishtwar.
The purpose of this meeting was to inform political parties about ensuring an accurate and up-to-date electoral roll for the upcoming Panchayat elections, thereby supporting a transparent and fair democratic process at the grassroots level.
During the meeting, the DPEO Kishtwar outlined key stages of the revision process, which include adding new eligible voters, updating voter information, and removing ineligible entries. Political parties were encouraged to assist in verifying entries and to conduct outreach, informing citizens of their right to participate in the democratic process.
The Officer emphasized the importance of engaging local communities and ensuring that eligible residents, especially those newly eligible, are registered and able to exercise their voting rights.
He also Stressed upon the prompt addressing of any discrepancies or grievances that may arise.
The DC Kishtwar was informed that the publication of the draft roll completed on 11-11-2024.
Election Authorities informed that Period for Filing Claims and Objections (additions, deletions, corrections, transpositions) is November 11, 2024, to December 9, 2024.
Special Camps will be held from November 16, 2024, to December 1, 2024.
Disposal of Claims and Objections will follow from December 23, 2024 and Final Publication of Panchayat Electoral Roll 2024 is January 6, 2025.
The DPEO emphasized achieving 100% coverage of all eligible persons in the voter list to ensure an error-free voter list.
The meeting was attended by Dy. DEO/ACR Kishtwar Idrees Lone, the Election NT Angrez Singh Jasrotia, representatives from different political parties, and other concerned staff.TDD
