Srinagar blaze: J&K Govt Announces Rs 1.30 Lakh under SDRF, Rs 1 lakh from CM’s relief fund, Red cross chips in with Rs 20k relief for 26 families

Will provide free ration for three months to all affected families: Minister Satish Sharma

Srinagar, (TDD): Reaching out to the blaze hit families in the interior area of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir government today said that each affected family will get the relief of Rs 1.30 lakh under State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), Rs 1 lakh from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund while as Red Cross will also give Rs 20,000 to each family.
Advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Nasir Aslam Wani, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Satish Sharma and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq visited the fire affected families in the interior part of Dal Lake to take stock of the damage. At least 26 residential houses were turned into ashes due to the massive blaze yesterday.
Speaking to the reporters, CM’s Advisor Wani said that its time to rehabilitate all those living in the Dal Lake. “From the LG administration there is a proposal to establish a tourist village. From our side, we had identified land at Rakh-e-Arth area of Srinagar to rehabilitee all the Dal dwellers ten years ago but that plan remained stuck and couldn’t be implemented,” said Wani.
He said the government led by Omar Abdullah will ensure proper rehabilitation of all Dal Lake dwellers. “Today, SDRF has announced Rs 1.30 lakh cash relief and Rs 1 lakh from CM’s relief fund has been announced for the affected families of the yesterday’s blaze. Plus, Red Cross has also announced Rs 20,000 for each fire affected family,” said Wani.
Present on the occasion, Minister for CA& PD Satish Sharma said that people living in the houses are lucky as there was no loss of life. “From my department, I will be providing free ration for three months to each affected family,” said Sharma.
MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq said that he will stay with the fire affected families. “There are almost 26 families whose houses have been razed to ground. Apart from the SDRF and CM’s relief fund, I will also provide them best possible cash assistance from the Constituency Development Fund being the local MLA of the people who have suffered due to blaze,” he said—(TDD)
