ADDCs and Engineers Sensitized about Preservation & Restoration of Heritage

Jammu: The Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K organized one day workshop cum Training on Conservation and Preservation of Heritage Buildings and Monuments at Panchayat Bhawan, Jammu. The workshop was inaugurated by Sh. Bhopinder Kumar (IAS), Administrative Secretary Public Works Department, J&K.
The main aim of the workshop was to sensitized the Nodal Officers of Jammu Division i.e., ADDC’s and concerned Engineers which includes Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and other subordinate Engineers of the various aspects of Architectural Conservation and Restoration of our built Heritage which includes various technical aspects of Heritage Conservation and formulation of DPR’s for the Scheme Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage in Jammu and Kashmir.

This workshop was organized on the second day of World Heritage Week celebrations.

The training program also aims to create a Team of Trainers (TOT’s) from all the Districts of Jammu Division who will further impart training in their respective Districts.

Sh. Bhopinder Kumar (IAS), while speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K, in organizing such training program.

He further added such capacity building programs are the need of hour and such attempts will add a fillip in restoring our rich heritage.

Sh. Kuldeep Krishan Sidha, Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K briefed the participants regarding the importance of preserving and restoring our built heritage and how it is important for our future generations.

The resource persons for the said workshop cum training program includes Sh. Rahul Bhosle, Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India, Dr. Mehran Qureshi, Head, Department of Architecture, IUST, Awantipora, Kashmir, Dr. Navjot Kour, Research Associate, Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeol,TDD
