Lecture on ”Constitution of India: Making And Evolution” at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR ,TDD, Department of History and Political science under the aegis of IQAC of Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur organised a lecture on the topic “CONSTITUTION OF
INDIA:MAKING AND EVOLUTION” at college campus.

The whole event was organised and conducted under the able guidance of the principal of the college, Dr. Nalini Pathania, to commemorate the “CONSTITUTION DAY- 2024”.

The programme began by presenting a floral tribute to the architect of Indian constitution Dr. B R Ambedkar by I/C Principal and senior faculty members followed by the formal welcome address by Prof. Yash Paul, HOD, History.

The Resource Person on the occasion was Prof. Swarna Devi, HOD Political Science who deliberated on the topic, “CONSTITUTION OF
INDIA: MAKING AND EVOLUTION”.

In her address, she familiarised the students about the relevance of celebrating the Constitutional Day every year on 26th of Nov. She
explained in detail about the evolutionary process that took place to finally formulate, adopt, enact and enforce the constitution of India. She discussed the structure, position, Sources, Preamble and basic features of the constitution. She also highlighted the contribution of the Constituent Assembly and framing of the constitution by the drafting Committee by passing through several stages.

She also analysed the different Amendments made in the constitution after Independence. She focussed on the vitality of the constitution
for playing a crucial role for guiding and shaping the development of the nation and for realising the ideals of Liberty, Equality, fraternity, Justice, Democracy by continuously evolving through a
series of Amendments and by adapting the changing needs and aspirations of the people. In the end of the lecture, in the question-answer hour, quarries of the students were cleared by the resource person.

I/C Principal of the college Dr Indu Khajuria, in her speech on the occasion, congratulated the HODs of the Departments of Political science and History as well as their other staff members for conducting such an informative lecture. She advised the organising team to organise such thought- provoking programmes in coming future
as well as such kind of activities enhance the knowledge of the students regarding their history and the constitution and inculcate the patriotic feelings among them which is useful for the nation to grow further.

Programme was attended by almost 130 students of the college. Senior staff members and other staff members of the college were present on the occasion. Among those who were present were Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Sanjeet Kour, Dr. Geetanjali Rajput, Dr. Mool Raj, Dr. Monica Gupta, Dr. Parwinder Kour, Prof. Yash Pal, Mr. Varun Sharma, Dr. Anita Kumari, Prof. Yash Kumar from Music Deptt, Prof. Pooja Bharti, Dr.
Preeti Dubey, Prof. Pardeep Singh, Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Dr. Nazim Dr. Tanveer Ahmad Lone, Dr. Roohul Amin Malik, Dr. Zubair Ahmad Rather,
Dr. Umar Khandy, Dr. Muzaffer etc.

Programme was successfully convened and conducted by Prof Yash Paul HOD History which concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr.Tanveer A Lone, from Department of Political science.TDD
