BSF STC Udhampur celebrates 60th raising day with Millet fair at STC Udhampur

Udhampur :TDD, The Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated its 60th Raising Day on December 1, 2024. Initially established with 25 battalions, the BSF has grown into a formidable force comprising 195 battalions. Known for its pivotal role in the 1971 India-Pakistan War, the BSF continues to be a cornerstone of India’s security.
On this special occasion, Rajesh Kumar Gurung, IG STC BSF Udhampur, paid homage to the brave martyrs of the BSF who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. He also congratulated all ranks and urged them to continue scaling new heights and thwarting any attempts by enemies to disrupt the peace and social fabric of the country.
The BSF’s primary role is to maintain strict vigil on the international border during peacetime and prevent trans-border crimes. Leveraging the latest technology and gadgets, the BSF safeguards approximately 7000 kilometers of international border. The force has played a significant role in counter-insurgency operations, election duties, and internal security.
STC BSF Udhampur, with its primary focus on providing basic training to newly recruited personnel, also conducts promotion courses for serving personnel, pre-induction training for NSG commandos, and residential training for customs and central GST inspectors. The center has trained railway protection special force, RAC, Rajasthan jail wardens, and other police personnel. To date, STC BSF Udhampur has trained approximately 55,000 recruits.
As part of the celebrations, STC BSF Udhampur organized a “Shri Anna Mela (Millet Mela),” serving various dishes made from millets, promoting the message of a healthy lifestyle through healthy food. Rajesh Kumar Gurung highlighted the importance of millets in our daily diet. Additionally, a “Bara Khana” was organized, bringing together all ranks, R/CT, and retired personnel of the BSF. To foster a greener and pollution-free environment, a plantation drive was conducted within the STC BSF Udhampur campus, led by Rajesh Kumar Gurung, IG STC BSF Udhampur, and Deepshikha Gurung, BWWA Head.
IG BSF, Rajesh Kumar Gurung, opened the Fair. He stressed the meaning of the BSF Raising Day and why it matters to add millets to daily meals.
“Millets pack a lot of nutrients and can help us live healthier,” IG Gurung said. He asked everyone to eat millets for better health.The Millet Fair showed off many dishes made with millets proving how useful these old grains can be. The event aimed to teach people about how good millets are for you and to get them to eat better.By holding this new kind of event, the BSF not marked its Raising Day but also pushed for healthy eating and farming that lasts.TDD
