Strengthen grass root units – Karra to block Presidents

Jammu :TDD, JK PCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra has asked the block Presidents of the party to strengthen the grass root units of the party to fight the communal and divisive forces in order to maintain brotherhood and harmony in the society.
Addressing a meeting of Block Presidents of several districts Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch, at PCC HQ here today, Karra told them that Block Presidents are the most important functionaries of the party and messengers of the party high command. He said that block presidents have to play a very vital role to strengthen the party upto booth level and Halqa Panchayat levels and carry the policies and programmes of the high command to the grass root levels.
He asked them to understand the dangers to the secular values and the constitution and expressed serious concern over the attempts to foment communal tensions on the basis of religion in every nook and corner of the country.
He said that our forefathers united this country on the principle of unity in diversity, irrespective of religion or region, cast, creed or color (Anekta mein aikta) and driven out the britishers from this country. This is the principle of strength of our nation and those giving divisive slogans are weakening the nation and its unity.
The congress party has to play the role of unifying force in this atmosphere of divide and rule. We have to bind the communities rising above caste, creed, colour, religion and region.
Karra took detailed review of the organizational structure at grass root levels and advised them to strengthen the basic units to face future elections to the PRIs. The meeting lasted for over five hours and discussed the shortcomings and the measures needed to improve further.TDD
