RAJOURI, (TDD): In a devastating case of suspected food poisoning in the Kandi area of Rajouri district, four members of a family—a father and his three children—have tragically lost their lives.

The mother and another daughter are in critical condition and are currently receiving emergency treatment at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.

Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation into the incident. A police spokesperson confirmed, “We have registered a case and initiated a thorough inquiry. Food samples are being collected, and witness statements are being recorded to determine the source of contamination. Strict action will follow if negligence is established.”

Doctors at GMC Jammu are doing their best to stabilize the surviving victims. A senior doctor commented, “The deaths and critical conditions strongly suggest food poisoning. The condition of the surviving mother and son is being closely monitored. We have sent samples for laboratory testing to identify the cause.”

Health officials have dispatched a medical team to the affected area to conduct health inspections and check for other potential cases. A senior health officer stated, “Our team is on the ground, assessing the situation and ensuring that no one else is affected. Additionally, we will roll out awareness campaigns to educate the public about safe food practices.”

The tragedy has left the local community in shock, with residents mourning the loss and calling for swift action. A resident shared, “This is a terrible incident that has shaken our village. We urge authorities to take swift action to find the cause and prevent such incidents in the future.”

The administration has urged the public to remain vigilant, practice proper food hygiene and report any symptoms of illness immediately. Further updates will follow as investigations progress. (TDD)
