Jammu: TDD, The boarders and management of the Girls’ Hostels at the University of Jammu came together to participate in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a flagship campaign aimed at raising awareness and addressing the serious issue of substance abuse. The initiative focused on engaging youth and uniting efforts across stakeholders to work towards the shared goal of a drug-free India.
Prof. Shashi Manhas, Provost of Girls’ Hostels, highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stressing that early prevention and community involvement are critical to building a healthier and happier society. She encouraged collective action to eliminate substance abuse.
Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, Warden of Sarojini Naidu Hostel, explained the neurological mechanisms of addiction and emphasized the role of rehabilitation programs in supporting individuals struggling with substance abuse. Dr. Sonia M., Resident Warden of CBGH, underscored the benefits of meditation in overcoming addiction. Contributions were also made by Dr. Meenakshi (Warden, CBGH), Dr. Skarma (Warden, PDGH), and other staff members, including Mrs. Rupinder, Mrs. Seema, Mrs. Dimple, and Mrs. Jyotsna, along with their families.
The program featured slogan writing, poster making, and an engaging Nukkad Natak performed by the boarders, which vividly illustrated the impact of substance abuse. The creative works were displayed, showcasing the students’ talents and their commitment to the cause.
The event not only enhanced awareness among the young boarders and staff but also fostered a sense of collective responsibility among all stakeholders. The involvement of families and staff underscored the need for a united front to achieve the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.TDD
