KATHUA, TDD: Police Friday claimed to have apprehended two hardcore drug peddlers in Kathua District, who were habitual drug peddlers involved in possession and transportation of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in different NDPS Cases at Police Station Kathua and Police Station Raj Bagh.
Police said that a team led by Inspector Ajay Singh Chib SHO Police Station Kathua under the supervision of Dy. SP Headquarters Kathua Manjeet Singh apprehended a drug peddler named Gurnam Singh alias Katta, son of Bui Lal, resident of Chak Drab Khan in Kathua.
He was the habitual drug peddler involved in possession and transportation of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in different NDPS cases at Police Station Kathua in different FIRs.
A detention warrant under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances PIT-NDPS Act- 1988 was issued against him by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu vide order number 49 of 2024 dated 09/12/2024.
To prevent illegal activities in drug trafficking in the district, “dossier” was prepared against the accused person and sent to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for his detention under PITNDPS Act- 1988 (PSA).
Accordingly, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu issued a detention warrant against the accused person under the PITNDPS Act. Therefore, the warrant has been executed and he has been lodged in Central Kot – Bhalwal Jail Jammu to curtail his activities in drug peddling so that the future of the youth of the district could be saved from the clutches of drug peddlers.
While in the second instance, a police team led by Inspector Rajeshwar Salathia, SHO Police Station Raj Bagh assisted by Incharge Police Post Marheen, PSI Ravinder Singh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Dheeraj Singh Katoch, apprehended one lady drug peddler/habitual smuggler/criminal namely Asha Bibi, wife of Mohammed Sadiq, resident of Khanpur Tehsil Marheen in District Kathua.
Police claimed that she was the habitual drug peddler/smuggler involved in possession and transportation of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in different NDPS cases at Police Station Raj Bagh vide FIR No’s 294/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS and FIR No 104/2024 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS, respectively.
