Kishtwar, TDD,J&K Police District Kishtwar, in collaboration with DIET Kishtwar, conducted a one-day workshop on National Cyber Security Awareness at the DIET Complex, Kishtwar. The event was held under the overall supervision of Principal DIET, Shri Prahlad Bhagat, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Principals of Higher Secondary Schools, Headmasters of High Schools, and students from HSS Boys and HSS Girls, Kishtwar.
- The initiative, organized as part of the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) programme by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), aimed to educate participants about cyber safety, responsible technology usage, and strategies for ensuring a secure online presence.
- A highlight of the workshop was the session on “How to Stay Safe Online,” held in the ICT lab of DIET Kishtwar. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta, along with PSI Moin Khan, In-charge Cybersecurity, DPO Kishtwar, delivered impactful lectures. Dr. Gupta’s presentation on “Stay Safe Online Cyber Awareness Campaign” covered the risks of excessive internet usage, the dangers of social media misinformation, and practical strategies for maintaining a balanced digital lifestyle. Participants were also introduced to the government’s cyber safety portal https://staysafeonline.in, which offers extensive multimedia resources to promote public awareness.
- Dy.SP Hqrs and PSI shared detailed information about the ongoing online threats, such as phishing scams, identity theft, and the risks posed by harmful content. They explained effective methods to protect oneself and one’s family members from these dangers.
- The officers emphasized the importance of educating parents and guardians about safeguarding their wards from cyber threats, particularly in the context of social media and digital platforms.
- The experts also emphasized the “Cyber Surakshit Bharat” initiative (#SatarkNagrik), underlining the critical role of individual awareness in creating a safer digital environment.
- Participants were encouraged to leverage social media platforms for constructive outreach while staying vigilant against misinformation, fake narratives, and disinformation.
