NGO Jiyo Aur Jeene Do Highlights City Issues

The Diplomat Desk

Udhampur :TDD, A Press conference was held by Tariq Shah, President of the NGO Jiyo Aur Jeene Do, to address pressing issues in the city of Udhampur. While acknowledging the commendable work of the Municipal Council CEO, Shah expressed concern over the city’s cleanliness. Despite the council’s door-to-door garbage collection initiative, numerous dumping yards continue to mar the city’s landscape, particularly at prominent locations like the District Library, Salathia Chowk, and Town Hall Chowk. The NGO urged residents to dispose of waste responsibly to facilitate efficient collection and disposal.

The unregulated proliferation of street vendors was another significant issue raised. While recognizing the need for livelihood opportunities, the NGO proposed a system of assigned wards for vendors to optimize accessibility and minimize traffic congestion. The organization also appealed to residents to avoid using polythene bags and to cooperate with the administration in maintaining the city’s cleanliness and order.TDD
