Udhampur :TDD-In a historic achievement that marks a landmark for women’s empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir, Nilakshi Sharma has emerged as the first lady candidate from Village Sulgar to get selected for the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Her selection, which she cleared through SSC GD Final Result , brings pride not only to her distant village in the Ghordi block of Ramnagar tehsil in the Udhampur district but has now also become a hope of light for all the younger women in the region.
Breaking traditional barriers, Sharma’s achievement is a great landmark of transformation in the notion about women’s roles in security forces, particularly in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Her selection into ITBP, one of India’s premier paramilitary forces that is tasked with guarding the nation’s mountainous borders, epitomizes the changing landscape of opportunities for women in erstwhile male-dominated fields.
Speaking about her achievement, Nilakshi Sharma said she was thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had taken initiatives to empower women. She particularly mentioned various schemes launched under his leadership that have been instrumental in enabling women to pursue careers in government services, including paramilitary forces. According to Sharma, these initiatives have played a crucial role in breaking gender stereotypes and encouraging women to step into roles traditionally dominated by men.
The importance of Sharma’s achievement goes beyond her personal success. It is a powerful testimony to the effectiveness of government policies aimed at gender equality and women’s empowerment. Her story has inspired countless young women in Jammu and Kashmir, especially those from rural backgrounds, that with determination and the right support system, they too can achieve their dreams, no matter what geographical or social constraints they may face.
It has the historic selection, a victory for Nilakshi Sharma, but it stands also as a symbol of progress occurring in Jammu and Kashmir, where women have gradually become more prominent in stepping into challenges toward national service. Her success story is expected to motivate young women from the region more to take up careers in security forces and other challenging fields, which would contribute more to the overall goal of women’s empowerment and gender equality in Indian society.TDD
