Udhampur :TDD, As the cold grip of winter sets in over Udhampur, the Wildlife Department’s Tanday Rakh Rescue Centre has geared up with elaborate arrangements to save its resident deer population from the harsh winter elements. The facility, with 34 Spotted deer and three Barking deer, including some fawns, has gone into an elaborate winter care protocol as temperatures have begun to touch freezing levels.

Under the guidance of the Wildlife Range officer Mahesh Abrol, the rescue centre had designed a specialized winter care regime. The scientifically designed diet enriched with green foliage and fortified feed has been designed to help the animals maintain their strength and vitality during the winter season. To counteract the harsh weather, the shelter has designed warm shelters with soft leaves and hay bedding for the deer to protect them from the harsh weather conditions.

The centre does not only focus on the comfort of the animals. The veterinary team carries out routine health checks to ensure the deer are in good health, so any cold-related issues are addressed immediately.

“We provide the deer with a diet that is carefully formulated to meet their nutritional needs during the winter,” said Mahesh Abrol, Wildlife Range officer Udhampur . “We also ensure that their enclosures are well-insulated to protect them from the cold. Our veterinary team conducts regular check-ups to monitor their health and well-being.”Currently, the rescue centre is home to approximately 34 Spotted deer’s, and three Barking deer’s including several fawns. The department is committed to providing these animals with the highest level of care to ensure their survival during the harsh winter months.TDD
