SVEEP: Kabaddi Match spreads voting awareness at MA Stadium

JAMMU, , DDT, In a bid to boost voter awareness and participation, a Kabaddi competition was held at the MA Stadium Jammu under the Systematic Voter’s Awareness and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. This innovative event, designed to blend sports with electoral education, was organised through a collaborative effort by the District Administration Jammu, J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association and the J&K Sports Council.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, and District Election Officer, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, served as the chief guest for the occasion. Addressing the gathering, he urged both athletes and eligible voters to actively exercise their franchise and engage in the electoral process, highlighting the importance of each vote.
The event was spearheaded by Ranjeet Kalra, the UT Level Election Icon and witnessed the presence of numerous dignitaries including Additional District Development Commissioner, Thakur Sher Singh; ADC Jammu, Shishir Gupta; Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh; Tehsildar Jammu (Khas), Paramdeep Singh; and Divisional Sports Officer, Bajinder Singh. Other notable attendees included General Secretary, J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Kuldeep Gupta; Director, Yuva Kabaddi Series, Surinder Mohan; Technical Director, S S Gill; Senior Kabaddi Coach, Ajay Gupta; Treasurer, Anil Modi, and Surajbhan Singh, Er. Ramnik Singh and Dr. Nitan Sharma.
Speaking on the initiative, Ranjeet Kalra emphasised the vital role of youth in the democratic process. “By combining the spirit of sports with electoral education, we aim to foster greater awareness and encourage voter registration and participation,” he stated. Kalra also expressed gratitude to Kuldeep Gupta and Dr. Nitan Sharma for their significant support in making the event a success.TDD
