Srinagar, (TDD) Security has been heightened across Kashmir as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the Union Territory on January 13 for the much-anticipated inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel.
Special security forces have already taken control of the tunnel, located in the Ganderbal district, to ensure a seamless and secure event.
The Z-Morh Tunnel, a vital infrastructure project, will provide all-weather connectivity to the Sonamarg region, a major tourist destination in Kashmir. The tunnel is expected to significantly boost tourism and facilitate easier access for local residents, particularly during the winter months when heavy snowfall cuts off the region.
As part of the security arrangements, multi-layered deployment has been put in place. Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel, paramilitary forces, and Jammu and Kashmir Police are conducting intensive checks along key routes and near the venue. Drone surveillance and anti-sabotage drills are also being carried out.
This visit comes amid heightened political and developmental activity in the Union Territory. Officials have assured that all arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the event.
The Z-Morh Tunnel inauguration is seen as a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure development, reflecting the government’s commitment to connecting remote areas and boosting economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.(TDD)
