Udhampur,TDD, In a significant political development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has opened its account in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, with Mehraj Malik emerging victorious from the Doda-52 constituency of Doda District.
This marks AAP’s first-ever win in the region, sending ripples of excitement not only through Doda but also reaching the party headquarters in Delhi, where leaders celebrated by distributing sweets.
Malik, who secured 23,228 votes, defeated his closest rival from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 4,538 votes. The victory is particularly noteworthy as it establishes AAP’s presence in its fifth state, following its successes in Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat, and Goa. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal personally congratulated Malik via video call, expressing his delight at the party’s expanding footprint.
During their conversation, Malik invited Kejriwal to address a public gathering in Doda on the 10th of October 2024 at 2:00 PM. Kejriwal, in response, promised to make efforts to visit Doda, meet the people, and personally congratulate Malik on his achievement. This win not only strengthens AAP’s position as a national party but also signals a potential shift in the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.TDD
