ADC Kargil reviews Ramadan arrangements

Kargil, DD, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, today chaired a meeting with religious organizations and district officials to review essential arrangements and the availability of commodities for the holy month of Ramadan 2025.

The meeting was attended by ASP Kargil, GM NHIDCL, Executive Engineers from the Mechanical, PDD, and PHE departments, CMO Kargil, AD FCS&CA, AD DIPR Kargil, officials from MC Kargil, Food Safety Officials, other district officers, and representatives from religious organizations, including IKMT, ISK, Anjuman Ne-Sahab Zaman, Sankoo, and the President of Merchant Association Kargil.

ADC Kargil conducted a detailed review of all arrangements, gathered feedback from officials of various departments, and instructed them to ensure the seamless provision of basic amenities for the general public.

Key topics discussed included power and water supply, ambulance deployment, medical facilities, traffic management, and sanitation of congregational areas. Representatives from religious organizations raised concerns about the smooth execution of religious events and processions during Ramadan.

They also requested timely sanitation and snow clearance of inner lanes near Islamia School and other locations, deployment of additional ambulances, repair of street lights, and improved water supply in Tai Suru and Sankoo areas.

ADC Kargil directed the concerned departments, including MC Kargil, PDD, and PHE, to address these matters on priority and ensure all necessary arrangements are in place.

He also instructed officials to conduct market inspections, maintain uninterrupted power and water supply particularly at congregation sites uphold cleanliness and hygiene, and provide first aid and medical support.

The representatives expressed confidence in the district administration’s support in ensuring a peaceful and well-managed Ramadan. The President of the Merchant Association Kargil confirmed that there is no shortage of essential commodities like food grains.

The Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Cooperative Departments were directed to ensure the availability of ration and essential commodities in their outlets.

Additionally, Food Safety Officials were tasked with conducting regular market inspections and checking for expired products. Expired goods in shops must be kept separately and clearly labeled as “Not for Sale.”

The Municipal Committee Kargil was instructed to maintain cleanliness as per routine. Furthermore, ADC Kargil directed all concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted services, especially for key events like Shab-e-Qadr, the last Friday congregation, and Martyrdom Day of Imam Ali.

He assured that officials have taken note of all suggestions and that directives have been issued to prevent any inconvenience to the public due to a lack of basic facilities.

ADC Kargil also commended the departments for their prompt restoration of services following the recent snowfall and urged them to continue working with the same dedication.

He further stated that snow clearance work at Zoji La Pass is ongoing, and efforts are being made to open the pass between March 7 and 10, subject to favorable weather conditions.DD
