ADC Ramban Chairs DDMA Meeting to Expedite Relief and Restoration Efforts Across District

RAMBAN, DD: Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Varunjeet Singh Charak, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), today chaired a meeting of key departments to review the status of infrastructure damaged due to recent heavy rains, cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides in the district.
During the meeting, the ADC took stock of both public and private infrastructure damages, the progress of restoration works, and other relevant information pertaining to agriculture and allied sectors.


The meeting was attended by ACR Shokat Hayat Mattoo, CPO Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather, Executive Engineers of PWD, JPDCL, PMGSY and Jal Shakti, Tehsildars, and other concerned officers.
The ADC directed Tehsildars to submit compensation files of victims who suffered losses during the recent heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides in their jurisdictions. They were directed to physically verify the damaged infrastructure, collect pre- and post-damage status reports, and submit cases to provide relief as early as possible to genuine applicants under SDRF norms.
The meeting was informed that ex-gratia relief has already been provided to the families of the deceased by Chairman DDMA Ramban, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, while the process of compensating other victims for damages is being carried out on a war footing.
The ADC also directed the PWD, JPDCL, PMGSY, and Jal Shakti Department to submit detailed reports on damage assessment and restoration of essential supplies and services, public utilities, along with pre- and post-damages as well as restoration works, photographs and videographs. He also instructed all departments to ensure the early restoration of road connectivity and uninterrupted essential services including water and power supply across the district.
The ADC further directed Executive Engineers to ensure that engineers and field staff remain present in their respective areas to expedite restoration works as per the issued directions.DD
