Kishtwar,DD, District Administration of Kishtwar organized a specialized Q&A session on Advanced Preparedness for Natural, Contemporary, and Anthropogenic Disasters at the Conference Hall, New DC Office Complex, Kishtwar.
On the initiative of Worthy Chief Secretary J&K and Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the District Administration Kishtwar, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Organized this event for the first time in Kishtwar to enhance pre-paredness for natural, con-temporary and anthropo-genic disasters
The session, aimed at strengthening disaster resilience and response mechanisms and resource person was Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Jyee, Vice President (In Proto Vice Chancellor of the International University School of Medicine – IUSOM) and Chairman of the Afro-Eurasian Chamber of Commerce, Education Development, and Employment (ACCEDE).
Prof. Ravi Jyee, a distinguished expert in disaster management, shared valuable insights on proactive preparedness, risk mitigation strategies, and effective response frameworks.
He emphasized the importance of safe construction practices for hospitals and essential infrastructure to withstand
disasters.
He also highlighted the significance of mass plantation drives to address climate and environmental challenges.
Prof.Jyee suggested that the government implement an Aromatic and Medicinal
Plant Cultivation Scheme and explore ways to utilize natural resources to create
job opportunities for youth.
He also urged the Health Department to develop dedicated disaster-resilient
infrastructure in hospitals to ensure uninterrupted medical services during
emergencies.
Additionally, he discussed the causes and preventive measures for forest fires, stressing the need for proactive strategies to mitigate their impact.
Addressing the youth, Prof. Jyee urged them to stay away from drugaddic-
tion and unlawful activities, emphasizing the importance of personal development and contributing to national progress.
He also noted that Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor UTof Jammu and Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha is keen on curbing the menace of drug addiction
among the youth.
Notably, Prof.Ravi Jyee’s contributions to global peace-building have earned him the prestigious World Peace-Building and Promotion Award.
The event provided an engaging platform for attendees to discuss contemporary disaster management challenges and explore solutions for enhancing coordination among stakeholders.
Various officers put their queries to clear the doubts which were replied by experts.
Pertinent to mention that the district falls under a seismic zone V and also faces the challenges of slides, accidents and snow storms. Sometimes the cases of fire incidents have been witnessed on a large scale.
The District Administration emphasized its commitment to fostering community awareness and preparedness to minimize the impact of disasters.
This interactive session marks a significant step in reinforcing disaster response capabilities, ensuring a safer and more resilient community.
