Kishtwar, (DD): With Eid ul Fitr fast approaching, residents of Warwan are struggling to clear snow manually from the Margan Top road, as authorities continue to neglect snow clearance efforts. The intentional closure of this crucial route has left nearly 60,000 people cut off, forcing them to use spades to reopen their only link to the outside world.
The road closure has led to severe hardships, especially for those needing medical attention and essential supplies ahead of the festival. “We are left to clear the snow ourselves while the administration does nothing. How are we supposed to celebrate Eid in such conditions?” questioned a local resident.
Despite repeated appeals, the local MLA has failed to raise a cut motion in the assembly, further fueling public anger. Critics accuse the government of neglecting the region’s basic rights, turning a blind eye to the suffering of Warwan’s people.
Residents are now demanding immediate deployment of snow-cutting machines and permanent road clearance measures, urging authorities to act before Eid to restore connectivity. However, with no official response yet, the people of Warwan are once again left to fend for themselves.(DD)
