AIIMS Jammu Inaugurates NAFLD Screening Drive under ‘Swasth Bharat, Samriddha Bharat’ on National Doctors’ Day 2025

Diplomat Correspondent
Jammu,DD, AIIMS Jammu celebrated National Doctors’ Day 2025 with immense pride and gratitude, honouring the unwavering dedication and selfless service of its medical professionals.
On this special occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, interacted with faculty members and residents, acknowledging their tireless commitment, compassion, and devotion to the cause of humanity. He emphasized the critical importance of ensuring the health and well-being of doctors and healthcare workers, who serve as the backbone of the healthcare system.

To mark the day, a significant health initiative was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, along with other officials, under the national vision of ‘Swasth Bharat, Samriddha Bharat’ and the broader mission of ‘Making Healthy India a Key Pillar for Achieving Viksit Bharat @2047

As part of this initiative, the Departments of Community Medicine and Family Medicine launched a month-long opportunistic screening program with a dedicated focus on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). The screening will cover students, faculty, staff, and healthcare providers across AIIMS Jammu.
Recognizing the growing public health concern of NAFLD—which affects 1 to 3 out of every 10 individuals and can lead to severe complications such as cirrhosis and liver failure—this program aims to promote early detection and raise awareness through proactive health checks.
Importantly, sample collection for the screening drive also commenced today, marking the formal rollout of the initiative. This proactive approach reflects AIIMS Jammu’s commitment to preventive healthcare, early intervention, and institutional responsibility for the well-being of its own caregivers.
Launched on the auspicious occasion of Doctors’ Day, this comprehensive screening initiative is not only aligned with national health priorities but also serves as a symbolic and impactful step towards ensuring that those who care for others are themselves protected and nurtured.DD
