AIIMS Jammu Successfully Commences Spine Surgeries, Expands Medical Services

Jammu, TDD, AIIMS Jammu has successfully commenced spine surgeries, marking a new era in advanced healthcare for the region. The first surgery was performed on a patient diagnosed with L5-S1 Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc (PIVD) with right-side radiculopathy, a condition causing severe back pain and nerve compression in the lower limbs. This surgery was carried out by an expert team of Doctors and highlights the Institution’s growing capabilities in specialized Medical care.

The surgical team included Dr. Tarsem Lal Motten, Dr. Rashid Anjum and Dr. Imran and the Anaesthesia team, led by Dr. Sunana Gupta and supported by Dr Sandeepika Dogra and Dr. Pallavi. The Anaesthesia team played a critical role in ensuring the patient’s comfort and safety throughout the surgery.

Continuing the Expansion of Services

The success of this spine surgery represents a major step forward for AIIMS Jammu, which is actively expanding its services to offer advanced treatment options across various specialties. The Institute is equipped with state-of-the-art Medical facilities and a team of highly qualified professionals dedicated to providing world-class healthcare. The Department of orthopedics aims to provide advanced Spine care to patients including deformity correction and scoliosis surgeries in addition to all other subspecialities.

The ED and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, emphasized the Institution’s commitment to expand its services, stating, “This successful surgery is just the beginning. AIIMS Jammu will continue to add cutting-edge medical services to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the region, ensuring patients can access top-quality care locally.”TDD
