AIIMS Vijaypur Organizes CME on Latest Innovations in the Management of Breast Diseases

Jammu,TDD, The Department of General Surgery at AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu, under the leadership of Prof(Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, ED & CEO of AIIMS Jammu organized a highly informative Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Workshop on “Latest Innovations in the Management of Breast Diseases.” The event, held on October 26, 2024, attracted an enthusiastic gathering of faculty, senior residents, nursing officers, and students from both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

The CME was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof (Dr) G.K. Rath, former Head of the National Cancer Institute, ex-Chief of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Institute-Rotary Cancer Hospital, and former Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at AIIMS Delhi. His expertise and insights added immense value to the proceedings. Dr Piyush Ranjan, Additional Professor in the Department of Surgical Disciplines, delivered a compelling keynote address on “Breast Imaging,” which was followed by an inspiring talk by Prof. Shabab Angurana, Professor and Head of the Department of Radiotherapy, on “Precision Medicine in Breast Cancer: A Paradigm Shift Towards Personalized Care.”

In alignment with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Department of General Surgery shared a report highlighting its recent achievements, notably the screening of nearly 1,000 patients for breast cancer in October. This comprehensive report was presented by Dr. Maria Kapoor, Additional Professor & Head of the Department of General Surgery. During the event, the department also announced its plans to establish Integrated Breast Wellness Clinics in the near future, aiming to elevate the quality of care for breast health.

The CME was followed by 2-hour workshop on advance imaging technologies, both diagnostic and therapeutic used for breast diseases. Over 50 participants including all Surgical Specialties faculty, students took part in the workshop and done the hands-on specimen.

The CME concluded on a positive note with a heartfelt vote of thanks, celebrating the commitment to advancements in breast disease management and reinforcing the institute’s dedication to patient care and education.TDD
