JAMMU, DD: In a moment of pride for the Pir Panjal region and the border belt of Mendhar, Ajaz Ahmed Choudhary, a dedicated grassroots leader from Kallar Mohra, has been reappointed as National Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC).
His continued presence in the national leadership is not just a personal achievement, but a reflection of his deep commitment to public service and unwavering connection to the people he represents.
Approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on the recommendation of Krishna Allavaru, AICC In-Charge of Youth Congress, and Uday Chib, IYC President, this reappointment reaffirms Choudhary’s role as a vital voice from Jammu and Kashmir at the national stage.
Ajaz Choudhary has spent years working tirelessly within the party structure, holding key positions such as Vice President of J&K Youth Congress, State Secretary of PYC, Lok Sabha General Secretary, and the first elected President of AYC Mendhar.
His journey began humbly as NSUI College President, and through consistent fieldwork and a deep understanding of people’s issues, he rose steadily through the ranks.
Nationally, he has played pivotal roles in elections across Delhi, Bihar, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, while also contributing to organizational reforms in NSUI as PRO and DRO in states like Punjab, Karnataka, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Assam.
A proud son of the Gujjar and Bakarwal tribal community, Choudhary draws strength from his roots.
His father, Haji Mohd Sharief, a former Sarpanch and BCC President of Balakote, instilled in him the values of service and leadership early in life.
In a heartfelt message, Ajaz Choudhary expressed deep gratitude to the Congress leadership Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Krishna Allavaru, Uday Chib, Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain, Tariq Hameed Karra, G.A. Mir, Shahnawaz Choudhary, Neeraj Kundan, Raman Bhalla, Iftikhar Ahmed—for their trust, support, and encouragement.
He also extended special thanks to his colleagues and friends who have walked beside him through years of activism—Ajay, Nadeem Sharif Niaz, Jatinder Chib, Sandeep Sharma, Adv. Anuj Malhotra, Sahil Singh, Sikander Hayat, Romi Sharma, Zaffar Iqbal, Sajid Rashid, Asif Iqbal, Madasar Ahmed, Faiz Ahmed, Nasib, Bilal, Anirudh, Happy, Zulfiqar Ahmed, Qamar Ali Kazmi, and many more who have been part of his journey.
Speaking to the youth of the country, Choudhary urged them to engage actively in public life, politics, and social service—not for power, but for purpose. “Politics must be rooted in people’s pain and powered by hope. I remain committed to working with renewed energy to serve the people and strengthen the Congress party under the visionary leadership of Kharge and Rahul Gandhi,” he said.DD
