Akhnoor encounter: One terrorist killed in feirce gunbattle; Ops on’NSG roped in to eliminate remaining terrorists’

Jammu, (TDD),A terrorist who was part of the group that attacked the Army vehicles at Akhnoor district of Jammu this morning has been killed while as the feirce gunbattle is underway, officials said today.

Defence Spokesman in Jammu told The Diplomat that soon after the three terrorists attacked the army vehicles at Jogwan area of Akhnoor, a massive search was launched in the area on the basis of tip off provided by the school going children who had spotted the terrorists. The school kids had informed the army after which massive searches were launched.

“At around 10 am, contact with the terrorists who were hiding near a temple, was established. A feirce gunbattle beas witnessed in the area in which one terrorist has been killed and two are believed to be trapped,” the sources said.

They said that a large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorist who are belived to be foreigners. Sources said that the NSG teams have been roped in to eliminate the remaining terrorists.
