Jammu,(DD): National Conference (NC) MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Saturday announced that all casual employees in Jammu and Kashmir will be regularized within the next five years, taking a direct dig at the BJP-led government for failing to fulfill this long-standing demand.
Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Sadiq criticized the BJP for making empty promises without delivering on the ground.
“The BJP ruled for years but failed to regularize casual workers. We are committed to ensuring that every casual employee in J&K gets job security in the next five years,” he asserted.
Sadiq further stated that the government is working on a structured policy to streamline the regularization process, ensuring that eligible workers—daily wagers, contractual employees, and other casual laborers—are brought into the permanent workforce in a phased manner.
The announcement comes as a relief to thousands of workers who have long demanded job security and timely salaries. Many have protested against the irregular wages and uncertainty they face due to the absence of permanent employment status.
While opposition leaders questioned the feasibility of the plan, Sadiq reaffirmed the National Conference’s commitment, stating that the process will be transparent, phased, and based on merit, prioritizing those who have served the longest.
With this declaration, the NC has positioned itself as the party championing workers’ rights, contrasting its stance with the BJP, which, according to Sadiq, failed to address this critical issue despite repeated assurances.(DD)
