Amit holds penultimate meeting in Mizoram on implementing ICJS 2.0 before relieving tomorrow

Aizawl,DD: Amit Sharma, Secretary to the Government of Mizoram, Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Department and Director Census Operations & Citizen Registration, Mizoram chaired an all-important penultimate (last) meeting in the state today regarding implementation of Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) 2.0 which was attended by Inspector General of Police, Dy Inspector General, Sr Superintendent of Police, Chief Informatics Officer, Joint Secretary ICT, Principal Informatics Officer and Deputy Secretary ICT amongst the participants, before going through the formal relieving from Mizoram on the next day.

At the outset, Secretary ICT Mizoram Amit Sharma was briefed by Police Nodal Officer about the objectives of ICJS 2.0 to be implemented in Mizoram at the earliest and a Request for Proposal (RFP) created for same which requires special inputs from the specialised team of Information, Communications & Technology Department.

Secretary ICT Amit Sharma directed his team led by CIO, Directorate of Information, Communications & Technology to study the RFP and respond back with expert comments within next couple of days so as to ensure that the possibility of OPEX funding for purchasing requisite bandwidth from Telcos can be created by the Mizoram Government, which shall be over and above, one time CAPEX funding, done by the Government of India for implementing ICJS 2.0 here.

Further, it is worth noting that Mizoram state has become a lead North-Eastern Region state over last one year, once Amit Sharma joined as ICT Secretary, which is visible through its recognition at National scenario in for Digital India reforms, the recent ones reflected in Digilocker and Bhashini acceleration.

Secretary ICT Mizoram Amit Sharma also took this opportunity to thank all departments of Mizoram, especially his own ICT department due to which major ICT reforms like successful implementation of e-Office, Mizoram Fibre Grid Network, Digilocker, Bhashini etc could see the light of the day here.

Amit also expressed his deep gratitude towards the visionary Government of Mizoram led by Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, ICT Minister Pu Vanlalthlana, Cheif Secretary Khilli Ram Meena who gave him an opportunity and requisite platform to implement ICT reforms in the state of Mizoram.

Also to note alongside that Government of Mizoram is going to relieve Secretary ICT Department Amit Sharma on 20th November, 2025 to soon take over his new role as Director Census Operations/Director Citizen Registration, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh wherein he shall have the opportunity to conduct first-ever Digital Census to be held in history of nation, in these three regions, co-incidentally being the domicile of this region itself.DD
