Amit resolves to make Mamit first e-District in Mizoram with Cooperatives in lead role during maiden visit here

Mamit (Mizoram), May 25, 2025_DD: Amit Sharma, Secretary to the Government of Mizoram, Information & Communications Technology (ICT) and Cooperation Departments today visited the Aspirational District of Mamit to give impetus to ICT influx and assessing its growth potential in e-Services domain alongwith focusing on the ongoing campaign for development of Cooperative sector in observance of the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025 in the district.

A meeting under the chairpersonship of Secretary Amit Sharma’s visit was convened at Taitesena Buk, DC Office, Mamit by the Deputy Commissioner K. Laltlawmlova attended by senior officials from the DC Office, Superintendent of Police Mr. Pukhraj Kamal, heads of various Government departments, Manager of the State Cooperative Bank, and representatives/chairpersons of Primary Cooperative Societies (PACS). During the Meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mamit, Carolyn L.B. Khiangte, delivered a presentation on the district’s administrative overview especially its current status in ICT domain while District Cooperative Officer Mamit Rothangliana Bawitlung presented a status report on the Cooperative sector here.On the ICT front, Secretary Amit Sharma reviewed the status of Common Service Centres (CSCs) and mobile network connectivity, who is having vast experience in this domain, serving as IT Secretary in UT of Jammu & Kashmir and UT of Ladakh in the past. He proposed expanding the business of Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Societies (MPACS) with inclusion of CSCs for benefit of public here and it was resolved that Mamit district shall strive towards becoming the first e-District in Mizoram and that the district administration shall soon submit a proposal to Government in this behalf.Further, in his lead remarks, Secretary ICT/Cooperation Amit Sharma called upon all stakeholders to outperform past performances during the ongoing IYC-2025, as declared by UN, emphasizing the need for quality over quantity in the development of Cooperative societies. He encouraged the District Cooperative Officer to actively engage with successful cooperatives to promote the vision of “prosperity through cooperation.” Amit also advocated the need for exploring new avenues for funding and market access, along with enhanced utilisation of the State Cooperative Bank (APEX Bank) and NCDC.Highlighting the success of Darlak Agri and Allied Services Cooperative Society Ltd., which recently won first prize for Mamit District in the Chief Minister Bana Kaih Innovation Challenge, Secretary ICT/Cooperation Amit Sharma stressed the importance of scaling such successes. He also urged focus on dairy cooperative societies to usher in a cooperative-led “White Revolution 2.0” in the district.Additionally, discussions were held on road connectivity issues, law and order, and the status of ongoing developmental projects in the district.Before leaving, Secretary Amit Sharma also visited few leading Cooperative Societies alongwith DC Mamit, SP Mamit, DCO Mamit and others to overview their functioning and he assured them of more financial and marketing support to expanding production lines in the ongoing IYC, 2025.
