Amit vists MULCO alongwith RCS in Mizoram to boost its functioning

Aizawl, Mizoram, DD: Secretary to Government, Cooperation Department Amit Sharma today visited Mizoram Milk Producers Cooperative Union Limited (MULCO) at its headquarters located in the capital Aizawl wherein he was accompanied by Registrar Cooperative Societies John L.Sanga and he was received by MULCO, Managing Director Harsh Vardhan and Manager Lalhmunliani alongwith others.

The primary objective of MULCO visit by Secretary Cooperation alongwith Registrar Cooperative Societies was to assess its working alongwith boosting-up its production, expanding market base with better makrketing and branding alongwith diversifying its operations in times to come.

Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma held detailed deliberations there on several novel initiatives to improve milk production through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies located all across the state which is the need of the hour.

It was brought to the notice of Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma that MULCO has good network all across the state and shall require constant support from NDDB to expand it further here.

At this juncture, Amit Sharma asked MULCO to keep taking various initiatives such as ensuring provision of cattle feed at subsidised rates to the cattle rearing farmers, giving competitive rates to the farmers for milk, expanding marketing base of MULCO and sell milk and milk products to key places such as Assam Rifles, Army and similar organisations to meet their huge daily requirements.

Secretary Amit Sharma alongwith RCS and MD, MULCO took an extensive round of milk production plant having a capacity of handling 20,000 litres per day, quality control testing labs, packaging units and multi-product producing units like Lassi, Paneer, Sweet Curd, Desi Ghee, Rasgullas, apart from milk, wherein he directed them to keep multiple layers of checks and measures to have a better outreach in the market via-vis other brands.

Secretary Cooperation appreciated the efforts of MD, MULCO over last couple of years, inspite of several looming challenges such as inadequate availability of milching animals here, scarcity of water and fodder alongwith grazing fields in hilly terrains throughout the year but Amit assured them of all possible Government support and assistance in the times to come.

Before leaving, Secretary Amit Sharma, Cooperation department advised the MULCO team to take all possible measures to make it one of the leading Milk Producers Cooperative Union like AMUL amongst all North Eastern states and also, plan some measures to attract maximum farmers through PACS towards becoming part of MULCO over next year for which Cooperation Department shall extend all possible guidance and support.DD
