Anantnag, (DD) Police in Anantnag have solved the case of a missing girl from Kokernag, leading to the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the victim’s body.
The case came to light on March 16, 2025, when Koker#nag Police Station received a missing persons report. During the investigation, technical evidence pointed to Altaf Mir (31), son of Nissar Ahmad Mir from Lawaypora, Srinagar, as a suspect.
An FIR (No. 15/2025) was initially registered under sections 87 & 49 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Following his arrest and interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the victim’s body from his residence in Lawaypora.
Subsequently, sections 64 & 103 of the BNS were added to the case. The body has been sent for postmortem and forensic examination, and further legal proceedings are underway.
