Srinagar, (TDD): In a chilling revelation, a woman missing since October 2024 was found to have been brutally murdered in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Police investigations uncovered that the victim, Shabnam Akhtar, was killed by her husband, Imran Khan, with the help of his mother, Noor Hassan. The duo allegedly burned her body in a cowshed to destroy evidence.
Shabnam, a resident of Halmulla Hapatnad in Pahalgam, was murdered on October 4, 2024. The case came to light after an intensified probe into her disappearance. During questioning, Imran, 35, confessed to the crime. Acting on his confession, investigators, accompanied by a Duty Magistrate and forensic experts, searched the crime scene and recovered bones, hair, and the victim’s cellphone, which were sent for forensic analysis.
A case (FIR No. 01/2025) has been registered, and both Imran Khan and Noor Hassan have been arrested and sent to jail.
The heinous crime has sent shockwaves across the region, with residents demanding severe punishment for the accused. The incident underscores the need for swift justice in cases of domestic violence and crime against women. (TDD)
