‘Defeats stalwart leader G.M. Saroori in a neck-to-neck contest’

Kishtwar,(TDD),Payare Lal Sharma, who got elected as MLA from Inderwal constituency is set to join the National Conference.
Payare Lal Sharma defeated stalwart leader G.M. Saroori with a margin of 643 votes.
He won the elections from Inderwal constituency with 14195 votes whereas his nearest rival candidate, Ghulam Mohammed Saroori, who also contested polls as an independent candidate, received 13552 votes.
“Sharma, after his election as MLA, has received a call from the high command of the National Conference. The party has invited him to join them,” said the party sources.
Before leaving Kishtwar to join the NC in Srinagar, the newly elected MLA Payare Lal addressed his supporters while asking them to maintain unity and work for the welfare of the people in the constituency.
“We will not let down the people from all the communities in Inderwal constituency,” said the supporter of Sharma, who attended the gathering.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress’s candidate, Mohammed Zafarullah got 12533 votes; BJP’s candidate, Tariq Hussain Keen got 9550 votes, and J&K PDP’s candidate, Nasir Hussain Sheikh got 1044 votes from the Inderwal constituency.(TDD)
