More volunteers likely to be inducted in Village Defence Groups
SSP Kathua set-up security camps in Hiranagar – Rajbagh

Jammu: DD, Police alongwith other security agencies has carried out a comprehensive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the forest of Kathua in order to tighten the security grid against any kind of terror activities in Kathua District.
To review operational preparedness in Lower Kathua, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, IPS accompanied by SP (Operations) Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, SDPO Border Dheeraj Katoch, DSP (operations) Pushpa and other officers visited remote villages and security camps in jurisdiction of Hiranagar and Rajbagh.
The SSP visited Outpost Malaman and Outpost Chingara of Police Station Rajbagh, and interacted with personnel deployed there.
The police statement reads that the SSP was briefed about past infiltration routes, existing Village Defense Guards (VDGs) and other important landmarks in the area.
After interaction with the personnel on the ground, the SSP directed all personnel to keep close watch on OGWs.
The police have been directed to maintain proper record of movement of migratory population and to identify more volunteers, who can be further inducted in the VDG scheme.
She also visited infiltration prone areas of Pacca Kota, Parangoli, Mangloor and Saida.
Meanwhile, she interacted with SOG and CRPF personnel, who were undertaking Cordon and Search Operations in nearby forest areas.
She reviewed arms, ammutions and other ancillary equipment available with the force and directed them to continue Long Range Patrols (LRPs) with the twin objective of improving local outreach and increasing terrain familiarity.
The SSP also visited Baba Sidh Goriya temple cum forest, where she interacted with locals and was briefed about infiltration routes in Kamad forest area.
She directed local officers to conduct frequent village level PCPG meetings so as to improve police public connect, given the remoteness of the area.
“Kathua Police is committed to maintaining peace and security across the district and that there will be no leniency towards any anti-national elements,” the SSP asked the police.DD
