Diplomat Correspondent

Jammu,DD: An Army Attachment Camp commenced at Digiana, Jammu, under the aegis of the 2 J&K Battalion, National Cadet Corps (NCC). The two-week camp, scheduled from 03 to 14 October 2025, was designed to provide 55 Senior Division (SD) cadets with a rare opportunity to experience the professional ethos, discipline, and operational environment of the Indian Army.
During the camp, cadets participated in an intensive and well-structured training program covering Physical Training (PT), Drill, Map Reading, and Leadership Development. The module aims to build physical endurance, mental robustness, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility among the participants.

A major highlight of the training was the weapons and equipment familiarization, where cadets were introduced to a range of modern infantry weapons and communication systems. Under the expert guidance of qualified Army instructors, cadets received training on 5.56MM INSAS Rifle, 5.56 MM INSAS LMG and 7.62MM Sig 716 rifle. Emphasis was laid on weapon safety, handling, and firing posture, instilling confidence and precision among the cadets.
In addition, cadets underwent communication and equipment training on the Radio Set Star V Mk-II, learning about tactical communication procedures, message handling, and field radio operations. This hands-on training enhanced their understanding of how communication networks serve as the backbone of modern military operations.
A special session on Medical First Aid was also conducted by Army medical staff to equip cadets with essential life-saving skills. The training covered topics such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), management of bleeding, fractures, heat exhaustion, and snake bites, along with the correct use of a First Aid Kit in field conditions. Cadets were also trained in casualty evacuation techniques and the importance of maintaining composure during medical emergencies. This session aimed to ensure that cadets are prepared to respond effectively in both peacetime and operational scenarios.
The camp seeks to inculcate the values of discipline, leadership, camaraderie, and patriotism, while motivating cadets to embrace the ideals of selfless service and national pride. Interaction with serving Army personnel inspired cadets and offered them a glimpse into the courage, dedication, and professionalism that define the Indian Armed Forces.
The cadets expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army and 2 J&K Battalion NCC for organizing such an enriching and inspiring experience. The Army Attachment Camp continues to serve as a powerful platform to nurture leadership and character among youth, truly reflecting the NCC motto – “Unity and Discipline.”DD
