Jammu, (DD): Highlighting significant achievements in national security, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi today said that a notable decline has been recorded in the violence levels in Jammu and Kashmir.

He credited stringent measures by security forces for enabling peaceful Assembly polls, Lok Sabha elections and the Amarnath Yatra.

“In Jammu and Kashmir, the persistent efforts of security forces have drastically reduced violence. The peaceful conduct of key events underscores the improving situation,” Gen Dwivedi stated.

On border security, the Chief termed the northern front as “stable yet sensitive,” with ongoing infrastructure development to bolster readiness. While the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) remains intact, he acknowledged continued attempts at infiltration.

The Army’s commitment to modernization was a key focus of his address. “A stable and secure environment is crucial for India’s growth as a developed nation. The Indian Army is transforming into a modern, agile, and technology-ready force prepared for future challenges,” he said.

For the first time, the Army Day parade was hosted in Pune, a city with deep historical ties to military valor. The event included a performance by the Nepali Army band and highlighted the growing participation of women in the Army, reflecting their courage and enthusiasm in various roles.

Gen Dwivedi reiterated the Army’s vital role in ensuring national stability and contributing to India’s journey toward progress and development (DD)
