Army, J&K Police launch 23 major anti-terror operations across Jammu region to counter rising threats

Srinagar, (DD): In a robust and coordinated effort to address escalating terror threats in the Jammu region, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, has initiated 23 simultaneous anti-terror operations across the Jammu zone.

This comprehensive crackdown is focused on dismantling militant networks and eliminating hideouts, particularly in areas with a history of insurgent activity.

Defence sources confirmed that the operations were strategically planned to target militant hideouts and neutralize terror elements operating in the region. “These operations are part of our larger effort to counter any potential threats and ensure peace and security in the Jammu zone,” said a senior defence official. “We are working in close coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure the success of these operations and eliminate any terror networks before they can escalate their activities.”

The operations are strategically spread across various districts to ensure maximum coverage and impact: Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban: A total of 10 operations are underway in these mountainous regions, which have long been known for their challenging terrain and militant presence. Rajouri and Poonch: Seven operations are being carried out in these volatile districts, which have seen sporadic insurgent activities over the years.

Udhampur, Reasi, and Jammu: The remaining 3 operations focus on neutralizing emerging threats in these lower-altitude areas.

These operations are part of an intensified security initiative mandated by the Ministry of Home Affairs. With concerns over rising militant activity in the approaching summer months—traditionally a time of increased insurgent activity—authorities have stepped up their efforts to prevent any attempts to destabilize the region.

Through these coordinated actions, the Indian Army and J&K Police aim to ensure a strong security presence across the Jammu region, neutralize existing threats, and safeguard the region’s stability as it faces ongoing security challenges.(DD)
