Rajouri, (DD):The Indian Army has initiated an enquiry into an alleged incident of manhandling by its personnel during a counter-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, assuring that strict action will be taken if any misconduct is established.
The incident came to light following reports that some civilians were allegedly roughed up by Army personnel during a routine security check in the sensitive border district. In a statement issued Friday afternoon, the Army confirmed the occurrence, linking the incident to an ongoing counter-terror operation based on credible intelligence.
“There was specific input about the likely movement of terrorists in a vehicle in this sensitive area. Accordingly, search operations were launched,” the Army stated.
Preliminary findings indicate that during the operation, one of the individuals stopped by the troops reportedly attempted to snatch a weapon from a soldier, which led to a physical scuffle.
“An enquiry has been initiated to verify the sequence of events. If any Army personnel are found guilty of misconduct, strict action will be taken in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
