Srinagar,(TDD): Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti criticized the National Conference’s resolution on Article 370 on Wednesday, describing it as lacking both conviction and wholehearted effort.
Speaking at the PDP headquarters in Srinagar, Mufti expressed disappointment with the resolution aimed at restoring Articles 370 and 35A, stating that it fell short in its wording and lacked intent.
“The language could have been stronger; this effort feels incomplete. We’re considering amendments to make the resolution more effective,” she said.
She noted that while the National Conference’s resolution acknowledges the concerns arising from the 2019 revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, it failed to outrightly condemn the move, which she regards as unconstitutional.
“Instead of a direct call for full restoration of Article 370, the resolution vaguely suggests dialogue. Dialogue with whom?” she asked.
The PDP president indicated that her party is contemplating amendments to ensure the resolution aligns more closely with the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“This isn’t about seeking recognition,” she emphasized, reaffirming the PDP’s commitment to challenging the revocation and pushing for restoration in line with its electoral promises—(TDD)
