Leh: DD, A three days’ workshop on Social, Emotional and Ethical (SEE) Learning for Heads of Institutions (Hols) and faculty members of the, commenced today at the Indus Valley Hotel, Leh.

The workshop aims to foster compassionate leadership and promote a nurturing school environment in the educational institutions of Leh-Ladakh.

The event was graced by Sonam Wangchuk, Chief Education Officer, Leh, as the chief guest. Ms. Deldan Angmo, Principal of DIET Leh, welcomed the chief guest with a traditional scarf (Khatak). Along with CEO, she extended a warm welcome to the SEE Learning Facilitators Tsering Wangdus, Senior Lecturer, and Tsering Angmo, Lecturer-both esteemed faculty members at DIET Leh.

In her opening address, Deldan Angmo welcomed all participating HoIs, underscoring the significance of SEE Learning in today’s fast-evolving world. She emphasized the need for social, emotional, and ethical education to build a supportive and compassionate learning environment in schools.

Sonam Wangchuk, in his remarks, lauded DIET Leh for its past efforts in organizing SEE Learning workshops for more than 1200 teachers and Hols. He particularly commended the institution for conducting this specialized workshop for school heads in this beautiful and accommodative Indus Valley Hotel. He further informed the participants that SEE Learning has been officially integrated into the regular curriculum by the UT Ladakh administration and urged all Hols to ensure its effective implementation from the upcoming academic session after the winter vacation.

The workshop saw active participation from 50 school heads and around 15 DIET faculty members. The facilitators initiated the session with an engaging activity, gathering concerns from the participants under three key themes: social, emotional, and ethical. Throughout the workshop, they covered a range of crucial topics, including an ‘SEE Learning curriculum and framework, Exploring Compassion, Creating a Compassionate Classroom, and Attention Cultivation and Self-Awareness’.

The facilitators have engaged participants through an activity to develop various skills related to social, emotional, and ethical development.

The SEE Learning workshop is expected to equip school leaders with the necessary skills and insights to implement a more compassionate and ethically aware educational framework, ensuring the holistic development of students across Leh-Ladakh.DD
