Awareness lecture, Quiz competition on “World Human Rights Day” held at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR ,TDD: Department of Political Science, Government College for Women(GCW) under the aegis of IQAC and under the able guidance of the principal of the college, Dr. Nalini Pathania, organized a awareness Lecture cum Quiz programme on “World Human Rights Day” here today.

The aim of the programme was to make the students aware about the Human Rights. Principal, GCW Udhampur, Dr. Nalini Pathania was the Chief Guest on the Occasion. The theme of the Day was “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now” Programme began with the formal Welcome address by Prof. Swarna Devi, HOD Political Science. In her speech, she acquainted the students with the role, need for and importance of Human Rights for the upliftment and the better future of the
individuals and communities.

On the Occasion, Principal of the college congratulated the Department of Political Science for conducting such an informative Programme. She also advised the students to remain vigilant about their rights and respect the rights of others as well so that together we can create a world where everyone feels safe, valued and protected.

Resource Person, Akhil Dubey, Panel Lawyer, District Legal
Services Authority, Udhampur, presented his views on the topic and made the students aware about the human rights. He discussed various cases with the students where Human Rights of the individuals have been protected by the judiciary. He focussed on the dire need of knowing about our rights to bring justice in the society.

Resource Person for Quiz- Competition was Dr. Nazim Mohi Ud Din (Political Science) who carried out the proceedings of the Quiz. Under this activity, 4 teams were created, Team A (from Major), Team B(Minor), Team C (Skill) and Team D (Multi Disciplinary). All the four teams participated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Other students were also found very exciting and interested in this curious activity.
Team B and Team D got 30 points each and stood first. Team A and Team C got 20 points each and stood second in the activity.

The Whole Programme was organised by the Organizing Committee included Prof. Swarna Devi, HOD of the department, Dr. Nazim Mohi Ud Din, Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Lone, and Roohul Amin Malik. Other members who were present on the occasion were Dr. Indu Khajuria, Dr. Sanjeet Kour,
Prof. Yash Paul, Dr. Ravinder Kumar etc. The programme was ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Nazim Mohi Ud Din.TDD
