Awareness Workshop Cum Medical Camp Organised on World Obesity Day in Akhnoor

Akhnoor : DD, In line with its commitment to community welfare and health awareness, the Indian Army organized an Awareness Workshop cum Medical Camp at Tragwal village in the Akhnoor Sector today to mark World Obesity Day. The event aimed to educate the local population on the growing risks of obesity and the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers of Tragwal and adjoining areas. Indian Army medical officers and healthcare professionals conducted interactive sessions focusing on the causes, consequences, and preventive measures related to obesity. Special emphasis was laid on promoting balanced diets, regular physical exercise, and routine health check-ups as key components of a healthy lifestyle. Free medical consultations, BMI assessments, and screenings for lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes and hypertension were provided to over 55 villagers, helping identify at-risk individuals and advising them on necessary lifestyle modifications. Speaking on the occasion, the Army officials highlighted, “Obesity is a silent health threat that can lead to serious diseases if left unchecked.

Through this initiative, we aim to raise awareness and encourage the local population to adopt fitness-oriented habits that ensure long-term well-being.” The Indian Army remains committed to fostering strong civil-military cooperation and contributing positively to the health and welfare of communities residing in remote areas. The event concluded with the distribution of informative pamphlets on healthy living and a pledge by all participants to work towards a more active and healthier lifestyle.DD
