Bhaderwah Campus Organizes Career Counseling Session for School Students

Bhaderwah,TDD, The School of Management Studies (SOMS), Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, successfully conducted a comprehensive career counseling session for 11th and 12th-grade students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bhaderwah. This initiative aimed to inform students about diverse career pathways available across various fields, including Medical, Non-Medical, Arts, Commerce, IT, and Tourism.

Rector Bhaderwah Campus, Prof. J.P. Singh Joorel, in his message, commended the efforts of the School of Management Studies and expressed his commitment to making Bhaderwah Campus a transformative force in society. “Bhaderwah Campus will continue to strive for the betterment of society, guiding and empowering students to realize their full potential,” said Prof. Joorel. He highlighted the campus’s dedication to not only academic excellence but also to fostering skills and values that benefit the broader community.

The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Atif Javed Qazi, Lecturer at SOMS, setting the tone for an informative and engaging experience. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Umesh Choudhary, In-Charge Head of Department, who introduced students to a wide range of career opportunities across multiple streams. He emphasized the vast potential within the Commerce stream, highlighting SOMS’s commitment to integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills development, thus fostering well-rounded personalities among students.

Utilizing modern educational methods such as management games, case studies, brainstorming sessions, and group discussions, SOMS aims to equip students for real-world challenges. Dr. Umesh provided a detailed overview of specialized career paths in fields like Retail Management, Information Technology, Project Management, Process Flow, Accounting, Human Resource Management, and Marketing Management. An engaging interactive session, which included a creativity-enhancing game, allowed students to actively participate and broaden their perspectives on various career possibilities.

Students expressed appreciation for the session, as it offered clarity on career options through an engaging question-and-answer session. To further enrich their experience, students were divided into three groups to tour the campus, gaining a hands-on understanding of university life and management practices in the modern business world. Practical insights into time management and other essential skills were also provided, laying a strong foundation for their future academic and career success.

Several faculty members, including Dr. Atif Javed Qazi, Mr. Rajinder Kumar, Dr. Raashidah Qazi, Ms. Sonia Sharma, Dr. Alias, Mr. Amit, Mr. Umar Sadeeq, and Mrs. Surbhi Langeh, engaged closely with the students, offering tailored guidance throughout the session. Accompanying staff members from the school, Mr. Shahnawaz Khan from the IT Department and Mr. Ranjeet Parihar from the Retail Department, further enhanced the collaborative spirit of the event through their interactions with SOMS faculty and students.

The session concluded with a group photograph, marking a memorable and inspiring day for all participants. The School of Management Studies remains committed to empowering young minds and guiding them towards fulfilling careers.TDD
