JAMMU:DD, An alleged notorious criminal was today booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) by the police under the jurisdiction of police station Bahu Fort, and shifted to the District Jail Kathua.
He has been identified as Mohammed Tahir alias Tahir Pal, son of Abdul Gaffar, resident of village Achralla Tehsil Mahore, district Reasi at present near Lal Madarsa Bhatindi, District Jammu.
According to the police, he has a long criminal history and was allegedly involved in multiple FIR’s.
Police said that “Despite several FIRs, arrests and pending cases in courts, Tahir Pal did not mend ways and continued to engage in unlawful activities, posing a serious threat to public peace.”
Police officials said that “As a routine legal measures failed to deter him, authorities invoked PSA to prevent any further criminal acts.”
In the month of February 2025, police recalled an investigation that he along with his other associates attacked two persons at Mecca Masjid Chowk, Bhatindi with sharp edged weapons (tokas) and swords, leading to serious injuries to one of them.
“Same incident was widely reported in the media and concerns highlighted by senior citizens requesting strict police action. Accordingly, the PSA warrant was issued today by the District Magistrate Jammu and executed on July 19,” informed the police. (Press Release)
