BIG MOVE: J&K Govt restores Nov-Dec academic session up to 9th standard

For 10th to 12th standard, academic session to be restored next year: Edu Minister Sakeena Itoo

Srinagar, (TDD): In a big move, Jammu and Kashmir government today announced restoration of November-December academic session upto 9th stabdard instead of March session.

J&K’s education minister Sakina Itoo confirmed to Diplomat that the academic session will be restored to November-December up to 9th standard.

“For now, we will restore the academic session back to November-December up to 9th standard. For students of 10th to 12th, academic session will be restored from next year,” she said.

Earlier, in 2022, the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir said that Uniform Academic Calendar shall be followed from 2022-23 academic year. There was a growing clamour that in view of different climatic conditions in J&K, academic session should be reverted to November.

Various stakeholders have welcomed the move. “This was the much needed step, ” said President of Private Schools Association, Dr G N Var(TDD)
